On Tuesday, the 50th World Exhibition of Innovation, Research, and New Technologies Brussels Eureka opens in Brussels. This RIA Novosti correspondent reports that over 200 Russian exhibits will be displayed at the exhibition. Such entities as the Scientific and Research Association Technopol-Moscow, Rospatent, Russian Ministry of Education, Russian Ministry of Industry and Science, Russian Agency of Control Systems, Russian Conventional Weapons Agency, Russian Agency for Shipbuilding, and Russian Emergencies Ministry will feature their inventions at the exhibition. The Russian delegation comprises over 160 experts. Alexander Korchagin, the director general of Rospatent, heads the delegation. The first international seminar on the protection of industrial property in Russia will be held during the exhibition. Several Russian inventions will be presented at the seminar. The exhibition is organised by the Belgian Chamber of Inventors. The first Brussels Eureka was held in 1952. The Russians started to participate in it in 1990. Then, the Russian section occupied one display stand with the area of 12 m? and displayed 16 inventions. The Russian delegation to the 1990 Brussels Eureka was made up of 5 persons. Russian inventions won first prizes at the exhibition. Today, Russia is a major participant of Brussels Eureka. Its exhibits occupy the area of about 200 m?. One of the Russian inventions - a data entry system designed by Yury Pshenitsin from Penza -- competes for the Grand Prize of the year 2001. Brussels Eureka 2001 will end on November 18.
