"Human Rights Watch" proposes that post of servicemen's rights commissioner be created in Russian army

The "Human Rights Watch" international organisation proposes that a mechanism of the servicemen's rights commissioner be created in the Russian armed forces, director of this organisation's Moscow office Anna Neistat said at a press conference in RIA Novosti on Thursday.

A system should be created to help bring commanders to account for poor medical care and insufficient food, she said.

Neistat pointed out that the "Human Rights Watch" organisation conducted an investigation and prepared a report on food and health care problems in the Russian armed forces.

The document provides information on the food quality, everyday conditions and medical care in military units. According to Neistat, the situation in these spheres makes one worry.

At the same time, she stressed, this is not a scientific investigation. We polled several hundred servicemen who were demobilized because of the state of their health from 50 military units, she said. We understand that the number of cases we considered does not allow to make the final conclusion in percent, she added when speaking about the correlation between the numerical strength of the Russian army and the number of the polled.

More than 5.8 million people voted for Nicholas Maduro at the presidential election in Venezuela. This is more than a quarter of registered voters. Why did those people vote for the man, who, as Western media write, took Venezuela to the brink of collapse?
