Any Peace-keeping Operation In Afghanistan Must Be Carried Out In Keeping With A Relevant Un Decision And Under The Un Aegis

Any peace-keeping operation in Afghanistan must be carried out in keeping with a relevant UN decision and under the UN aegis, said Amirkul Azimov, the Tajik security council secretary. In his words, the peace-keeping force in Afghanistan must include, primarily, representatives of those countries "which are well familiar with the national features of the Afghan population and have no interests of their own in that country." In Amirkul Azimov's opinion, these countries are Russia, the United States, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and India. At the same time, he ruled out Pakistan's participation in the peace-keeping process in Afghanistan.
