Turkish horror film turned into real horror for people

A fire in a Turkish &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/science/ 19/95/381/12329_Argentina.html ' target=_blank>cinema injured dozens of people attending a film premiere on Tuesday, but no one was killed, the state-run Anatolian news agency said.

Ambulances rushed around 40 people to hospital, most suffering from smoke inhalation, it said.

Private NTV news channel showed people with blackened faces stumbling out of the cinema along a red carpet in an upmarket district of &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/cis/2003/02/11/43239.html ' target=_blank>Istanbul, Turkey's largest city. Unconscious victims were carried out in the arms of others, informs Reuters.

According to the Scotsman, the fire erupted at an opening gala in Istanbul to mark the release of a new Turkish film. Hundreds of people were inside the building when the blaze started.

Forty-three people were taken to hospital, most of them suffering from the effects of smoke.

Several people were trapped inside, but they were rescued by firefighters, according to TV reports.
