The USA still hopes to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, US Secretary of State Colin Powell said in a Wednesday live interview with Ekho Moskvy radio station.
"We think we shall find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq," he said. "Even the Iraqis have admitted they have such programs. The UN resolution was based on the assumption that Iraq had such weapons. Previous inspectors assumed that too," noted Powell, stressing that the Iraqis had "not accounted for these materials so far." According to his words, US experts and the military are examining various facilities in Iraq, trying to find the weapons. Earlier, they found a few trailers containing equipment that could be linked to weapons of mass destruction.
"We must thoroughly analyze this to make sure we are right," Powell emphasized.
