Pele: I'll never become chief coach of Brazilian national football team

"I have never wanted to and will never become chief coach of the Brazilian or any other national football team," football king Pele announced at a press conference in Moscow on Monday. He has come to the Russian capital for the first time in the last six years.

The famous player's biggest dream that so far has not been fulfilled is to have no illiterate or poor people left in his native country. "I will strive to make my dream come true," he promised.

"As to my sports career, I think it was successful. I was world champion three times, played along with outstanding masters. I had a lot of proposals from great clubs, such as Real, Juventus, Inter, Bayern, but I always wanted to play for Santos, where I spent almost twenty years," Pele said.

When answering the question of a RIA Novosti correspondent, he said it was difficult to name 11 best players he would include in the world team. "I would have to choose from too many outstanding players," he emphasized. "However, I still believe that the best team was the Brazilian one of 1970. And, definitely, the Dutch played brilliantly in 1974, though they did not become world champions then." Among the football players who have demonstrated excellent skills in the last five years Pele named Figo, Raul, Ronaldo, Zidane. "My Santos also has very talented players, Caca and Diego," he announced proudly.

The football king's visit to Russia will finish on Wednesday, September 17th.
