According to the US weekly Time, last week the USA and Uzbekistan signed a bilateral agreement envisaging long-term deployment of American troops and aircraft on the Uzbek territory. As the Time writes, the Khanabad air base in Uzbekistan, situated 200 km from the border with Afghanistan, has already become a support base for the USA during the military operation against terrorists and the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. The magazine claims that at the moment more than 2,000 soldiers of the US 10th mountain rifle division are stationed at this base. Precisely this base is used by the groups of US and British commandos to carry out operations on Afghanistan's territory, the Time writes.
