Un Envoy Arrives In Tbilisi

The director of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Joachim Hutter, arrived in Georgia's capital city of Tbilisi Monday. He is expected to take part in a ceremony to be held in memory of the victims to the attack on a helicopter of the UN military observers. The copter has been hit by Chechen and Georgian militants who had penetrated into the Kodori Gorge from the inside of Georgia. Also prominent on Mr. Hutter's visit agenda are meetings with Georgia's Foreign Minister Irakly Menagarishvili, Minister at Large Malkhaz Kakabadze, and Nugzar Sadzhaya, Secretary of the Georgian National Security Council. On October 16, Joachim Hutter is scheduled to leave for Sukhumi to call on the UN military observers' headquarters and meet with Anri Dzhegeniya, head of the Sukhumi government.
