President Vladimir Putin has said the United Nations' role in the global anti-terrorist effort is extremely important and it is to its international legal aspect that the organization can make the heaviest contribution. The Russian president was speaking on National Public Radio. The UN, said Putin, should help elaborate fundamental norms of international law on the struggle against terrorism and have these norms adopted by national legislature of its member countries. It is its members that make the organization real strong, said Putin. However, the countries' independent efforts against terror are also of great importance.
