Build Up Anti-terror Teamwork, Call U.N. Security Council Permanent Members

Efforts against terrorism and extremism demand closer international cooperation with the United Nations and its Security Council as chief coordinators, point out five Security Council permanent member countries. Heads of their Foreign Ministries' departments for international organisations said so to a routine conference in New York City, reports the press and information department of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The UN Secretary-General recently held conference with the five countries' Ministers of Foreign Affairs. Today's routine meeting analysed conference achievements to debate top priorities on the Security Council agenda. They exchanged opinions on how to enhance council efficiency in conflict prevention and settlement. The conferees called to guarantee lasting positive results of anti-terror action in Afghanistan by stepping up UN-sponsored political settlement of the Afghan conflict through a broad-based multiethnic government to be formed in that country.
