UN will help Kyrgyzstan set up agency to control drug smuggling

The United Nations Organisation will allocate $6.5 million to set up a State Agency to control drug smuggling in Kyrgyzstan.

The corresponding document will be signed on Thursday in Bishkek by Kyrgyz Premier Nikolai Tanayev and Director of the Information Analysis Department of the United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention Sumru Noyan, the press service of the Kyrgyz government has informed journalists.

The new department will be set up on the basis of the current State Committee on Drug Control in the Kyrgyz government. It will cover some aspects of combating arms smuggling, corruption in state bodies, trafficking in people and criminal money "laundering".

The money promised by the UN will go to forming of a mobile highly professional structure and providing it with modern equipment.
