Indian actress Dia Mirza says it's time for Bollywood fans to stop thinking of her as the sweet girl-next-door type and get ready to see her in more revealing roles, although she's not keen to kiss on screen, a newspaper reported Friday.
Mirza broke into Bollywood playing good-girl characters, but the 24-year-old had an image makeover in her last film, Tumsa Nahin Dekha, or "I've Never Seen Someone Like You" in English, playing a stripper, the AP reports.
In some scenes she even wore only a bikini top and shorts, a relatively risque outfit in what remains a largely conservative film culture.
"People shouldn't always expect to see me as a sweet girl," she was quoted as saying by The Times of India newspaper.
But Mirza said she does have some limits, namely, kissing.
"I wouldn't do an intimate scene unless it's really necessary for the film and I'm at ease with the actor," she said.
While kissing has become more common in Bollywood films in recent years, most movies are still relatively chaste affairs by Western standards and the stars rarely canoodle like those in North American or European films.
