Plenipotentiary of Russian president receives an invitation to visit North Korea

Plenipotentiary of the Russian president in the Far East federal region Konstantin Pulikovsky took an invitation from the government of North Korea and personally from Kim Jong-il to take part in the celebration of the 70-th anniversary of the Korean people's army foundation, scheduled for April 25. Konstantin Pulikovsky is leaving for Pyongyang on the 24th of April, said his press-secretary Yevgeny Anoshin. He also said that the visit would be unofficial. It is expected that during the meeting the two sides will proceed with the dialogue on increased cooperation between the Russian Federation and North Korea, started in the course of the negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-il and continued by the plenipotentiary of the Russian president in the Far East. Last summer Konstantin Pulikovsky followed Kim Jong-il from the border station Khasan to Moscow and back, and then paid a visit to Pyongyang with a group of economists. Recently he received a governmental delegation from North Korea in Khabarovsk. Detailed negotiations on possible connection of Transsib with Korea's transnational railway, attraction of Korean workers to lay in and process timber in the Far East of Russia and creation of joint ventures were on the agenda of those meetings.
