Forthcoming Russian-US summit to influence on international events

The forthcoming Russian-US summit will influence on a series of the most important international events, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksei Meshkov told an international conference in Moscow on Friday. According to Meshkov, Russia-NATO and Russia-EU summits and a meeting between G8 leaders in Canada in June 2002 are scheduled after the Russian-US summit. A common Russian-US task is "to give new standards for Russian-US cooperation on key security, peace and stability issues and for bilateral relations in practical spheres," following the decisions, which the Russian and US Presidents will make in Moscow, Meshkov said.
