French president asks Palestinian leader to do all to free abducted TV journalist

French President Jacques Chirac has asked Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to do his best to locate and free kidnapped Mohamed Ouathi working in the area for French TV

Ouathi, who works as a sound technician, was kidnapped Sunday night in Gaza by three armed men who forced him into a car as he walked to his hotel, other members of his TV crew said.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the kidnapping. However, Chirac called Abbas Tuesday night "to ask that he do everything possible" to get Ouathi freed, the AP reported.
