British police arrested a soldier of the British military on suspicion of possessing property for terrorist purposes.
The Metropolitan Police said the 23-year-old man was detained Tuesday in Folkestone, southern England, under anti-terrorism legislation. The force did not release his name.
Police said the arrest was not linked to last month's London bomb attacks.
In what they called a related operation, officers raided residential premises in Bradford, northern England, where bomb experts performed a controlled explosion on a suspected World War II mortar shell.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the man arrested in Folkestone was a serving soldier, the AP reported.
