Jenna Bush to wed her longtime boyfriend Henry Hager

One of the twin daughters of US President George W. Bush was just engaged, the White House announced on Thursday.

Jenna Bush, the presidential daughter-turned-schoolteacher and author who is perhaps best known for her partying ways, is settling down..

Bush, 25, and longtime boyfriend Henry Hager, 29, are engaged to be married, according to a brief statement from first lady Laura Bush's publicity office. No wedding date or location has been set.

In the more than six years of her father's presidency, Jenna - who has a twin sister, Barbara - has evolved from a light-hearted college student and party girl into a charter-school teacher and social activist. An unpaid internship with UNICEF in Panama last spring introduced Bush to a 17-year-old HIV-positive single mother named Ana who inspired Jenna to write a book. "Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope" is scheduled for publication Oct. 2, reports Seattle Times.

No wedding date has been set for Jenna's wedding to Hager, said Sally McDonough, press secretary for first lady Laura Bush. The two were engaged on Wednesday.

Hager, who is attending the University of Virginia School of Business, has been a White House aide and worked on Bush's re-election campaign. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Hager of Richmond, Va. The groom-to-be's father is a former lieutenant governor in Virginia and former director of Virginia's Office of Commonwealth Preparedness, reports NYDailyNews.

According to Times Online, Jenna gained a wild reputation in her teens and was twice arrested for underage drinking. On April 29, 2001 she was charged with a misdemeanour of being a minor in possession of alcohol in Austin, Texas. On May 29, 2001, she was charged with another misdemeanour - attempting to use a fake identity (with the name "Barbara Pierce", her paternal grandmother’s maiden name) to purchase alcohol. Her antics spawned the name of a new drink: a "Jenna tonic".
