North Korea ready for a dialogue with the South

According to Yun Yong-Kwan, South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs, his government trusts in the sincerity of its North Korean counterpart and its readiness to start a dialogue about a nuclear-free North Korea. The statement was given at a press conference after a meeting with Alexander Torshin, the vice-speaker of the Federation Council (Upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament).

"We trust that the second round of talks regarding a nuclear-free Korean peninsula will resume in the nearest future," the minister said.

Speaking about North Korea's willingness to resume the talks, the South Korean minister said his country welcomes "these positive steps."

Yun Yong-Kwan said Russia and South Korea share the same position on the issue of a nuclear-free Korean peninsula. "We believe that this problem should be solved through peaceful negotiations," he said.
