Igor Ivanov To Participate In Second Day Ministers' Meetings In Shanghai

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov is to participate in the second day of ministers' meetings of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. APEC ministers of foreign affairs and economy will hold a joint news conference on the results of the plenary meeting. In the evening the Russian Foreign Minister is to meet US Secretary of State Colin Powell. Arriving in Shanghai, Igor Ivanov said these negotiations would focus on the preparations for the meeting of two presidents -- Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President George Bush in Shanghai scheduled for October 21. Besides, Ivanov and Powell are to discuss the preparation for the first official visit of the Russian President to the USA scheduled for mid-November. Ivanov and Powell are also expected to focus on the struggle against international terrorism and on the course of the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan. Colin Powell arrived in Shanghai after visiting Pakistan and India.
