Russia believes that the globalization process must bring positive results to all countries.
On the eve of the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Thailand, deputy head of the RF presidential administration Sergei Prikhodko stated that in recent years this forum has been focusing on the problems related to the globalization process and creation of "new economy," with their complex influence on economic and social spheres.
"We believe it necessary to do everything possible to make these objective processes beneficial to all countries, regardless of the level of their development," he said.
Mr. Prikhodko appealed for the participants of the forum "to focus on issues of creating a more rational, stable, fair and secure system of international trade in the Asia-Pacific region and reducing the misbalance in the development of various countries in the region." According to Mr. Prikhodko, APEC also focuses on several urgent problems related to internal reforms in Russia.
Among those, the Kremlin representative mentioned "management of macroeconomic processes and structural reforms in the economy, development of tax and customs systems, strengthening of financial structures and systems of social assistance, cooperation in the spheres of energy industry, transportation, information technologies and environmental protection, active utilization of labor resources, and the support of entrepreneurship, primarily small and medium-size businesses." "We consider our participation in the work of APEC as an effective mechanism of realization of Russia's long-term strategy in Asia-Pacific region aimed at the creation of the zone of a stable and dynamic economic development," Mr. Prikhodko said. In his opinion, it would help to expedite economic development in Russia as well, especially in its eastern regions.
Vladimir Putin will participate in the APEC summit in Thailand. The Russian President plans to deliver a speech during the Business Summit of APEC on Sunday in Bangkok. The Business Summit unites business elite of various countries of the region. He also plans to meet with members of the Business Consulting Council of APEC.
