Russian, South African foreign ministers meet in Moscow

Moscow is pleased with the "promising and dynamic" development of its relations with the South African Republic, Russia's Foreign minister Igor Ivanov told his South African counterpart Ms. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

The positions Russia and South Africa hold on many of the topical international issues are "very close," stressed Ivanov, adding that he kept recalling his December visit to South Africa and talks with the country's leadership "with a feeling of deep satisfaction." On her part, the South African foreign minister thanked Ivanov for the warm reception she had had in Moscow, adding that she was glad to be in Moscow after a long break. According to her words, she paid her first visit to the Russian capital as a student.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
