Another Dreamliner forced to land due to technical problems

A Japan Airlines Dreamliner was forced to returned to Boston airport yesterday after a mechanical indicator alert came on.A Japan Airlines spokeswoman said the aircraft, which was en route to Tokyo, turned back to Logan International airport around five hours after taking off as 'precautionary measure', says Travel Weekly UK.

A Japan Airlines officials in Tokyo also confirmed the maintenance message but dismissed concerns that the return might signal a new problem for the plane."We decided to return for precaution... as a message showing a malfunction of a fuel pump at the right engine appeared in the cockpit," said a Japan Airlines spokesman.Even if the pump was faulty, there was no safety risk as the engine has the function to suck fuel as a back-up option, he said, according to AFP.

The 787 is the newest and highest-profile plane from Chicago-based Boeing Co., which has said it stands behind its safety and overall integrity. The 787 is assembled at Boeing plants in Everett, Wash., and North Charleston, S.C, reports The San Luis Obispo Tribune.
