U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan's representative on rights of internally displaced people was in Kosovo on Monday to discuss the tens of thousands of Serb forced from their homes in the province, the president's office said.
Walter Kalin will meet with Kosovo's president, Ibrahim Rugova, and other officials in this U.N.-administered province as part of his visit in the region, which has included stops in Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia, the president's office said in a statement.
Tens of thousands of Serbs and other minorities remain displaced in Kosovo following a 1998-1999 war. They were forced from their home following attacks by ethnic Albanian extremists. Kosovo has been administered by the United Nations since 1999.
