South Africans say they were racially abused in first test

South African cricket officials officially complained about racial abuse by small groups of fans at the WACA during the drawn first test which ended on Tuesday.

The &to=http://english.pravda.ru/main/2002/07/22/32940.html' target=_blank>South Africans reported the verbal abuse and chants by the crowd directed at Ashwell Prince, Garnett Kruger, Shaun Pollock, Justin Kemp and Makhaya Ntini during the third day of the match. Security was stepped up at South Africa's request for the remainder of the match.

The Proteas' management called for enforcement of the International Cricket Council's anti-racism rules, which also apply to spectators.

Cricket Australia said on Wednesday any fans caught making racist remarks would be removed from any ground.
