Brief truce between Lebanese army and Palestinian militants allows to evacuate wounded civillians

A brief truce in fighting between the Lebanese army and Palestinian militants in northern Lebanon allowed the evacuation of wounded civilians.

Saleh Badran said 18 wounded people were evacuated during the truce, which produced a lull in the fighting, but clashes resumed shortly thereafter.

Heavy black smoke rose from the camp during the renewed clashes, although its source was unknown.

The truce was arranged in talks between Palestinian officials and Prime Minister Fuad Saniora at a meeting in Beirut Monday, Lebanese and Palestinian officials said.
