International terrorism was in the focus of the session of the enlarged European conference that took place in Brussels on October 20. The Press and Information Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry said Sunday that the session was "a continuation of the Brussels Russia-EU summit on joint fight against terrorism." The Foreign Ministry stated that the session attended by representatives of the EU countries, countries-candidates to become EU members, EFTA, Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova addressed cooperation of European countries in forming a broad anti-terrorist coalition. The conference participants expressed their understanding that "the process should be based on international law, occur under the aegis of the UN and the UN Security Council, and apply comprehensive approaches to the issue of terrorism in all its aspects." Specific measures to counter activities of terrorist organizations, their legal pursuit, blocking sources and financial channels of such activities, and exchange of information on the issue were discussed at the conference.
