Russian President, Jordanian King Abdullah II Discuss Mideastern Settlement

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Jordanian King Abdullah II are meeting in the Kremlin. Opening the meeting, the President said that Russia was aware of the King's efforts to settle the Mideastern conflict. According to Vladimir Putin, he is interested in the King's viewpoint on the developments in the region. Putin stressed that much attention had been paid to the Mideastern settlement during his visit to the USA and his talks with George Bush. In addition, the Russian President proposed to discuss with King Abdullah II the development of Russian-Jordanian bilateral relations "within the framework of the agreements achieved during the previous meeting" and to sum up "intermediate results". Abdullah II said he admired the policy of the Russian President. It is very important to unite efforts to combat international terrorism in the light of the September 11 tragic events, the King said. In reply Vladimir Putin stated that it also concerns the Afghan problems. According to the President, he will inform the King of Jordan about the Russian view on the developments in Afghanistan and will be interested to learn the Jordanian King's viewpoint.
