Vladimir Putin And Abdullah II To Discuss Afghan Situation And Anti-Terrorist Struggle

Jordan's King Abdullah II, whose brief working visit to Moscow started on Tuesday, will be received by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin today. According to the Jordanian Embassy to Moscow, the king and the president will discuss development of bilateral relations, the Mideastern peace process, the situation around Iraq, and post-conflict settlement in Afghanistan. In the meantime, the Jordanian media cite an official source as saying that talks will mostly focus on combating terrorism, in the course of the military campaign in Afghanistan as well as in Central Asia and Russia, and ways of counteracting terrorist attempts at distorting the image of Islam. The media point out that it is the king's second visit to Moscow this year, which, in their opinion, proves that both sides are eager to develop closer cooperation in different spheres, including the military sphere. Abdullah II will leave for Amman as soon as talks with Putin are over.
