Sesili Gigiberidze, Georgia's minister of culture, submitted her resignation Thursday evening after a two-hour meeting with Eduard Shevardnadze. She is the wife of Zaza Shengeliya, who resigned Wednesday as chairman of Georgia State Television and Radio. Gigiberidze told journalists that she fully shares her husband's reaction to Shevardnadze's criticism of the work of Georgia State Television and Radio-that is, his decision to quit his post-and does not see her place in the present government. She stressed, however, that she, personally, has encountered problems neither with the president or other ministers. Gigiberidze said she would return to academic life.
Badry Bitsadze, Georgia's first deputy prosecutor general, also resigned on Thursday. He is the husband of Nino Burdzhanadze, the speaker of parliament and leader of the opposition.
