Portion Of Salang Tunnel Cleared

Russian specialists have helped to clear 60 meters of the tunnel in the Salang pass, press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Friday. Besides, the Russian experts are choosing a site to equip a helicopter landing ground near the tunnel's southern entry. The tunnel under the Salang pass on the height of 3,700 meters above the sea level is the shortest and the safest road, the press-service reminded. The Emergencies Ministry's engineers have neutralised 4,522 explosion-hazardous items on the square of 19.2 square meters. The mobile hospital attached to the Emergencies Ministry's humanitarian centre, functioning in Kabul, has provided aid to 1.950 people, Russian surgeons have carried out 10 operations.
