Syria Considers US Its 'Ally and Friend'

Syria considers the US to be an ally and friend which it can rely on in difficult situations. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, this announcement was made by the press office of the Syrian government yesterday.

According to official sources, the Syrian government wants to avoid any conflict with the US, which claims that Iraqis are hiding in Syria and has demanded that Syria hand them over immediately. In the next few days the Syrian government is expected to present Washington with comprehensive data on the whereabouts of all members of the former Iraqi government currently located in Syria.

Yesterday George Bush announced that Syria is not a country that harbours terrorists and added that Syria is doing everything possible to 'hand over the international criminals who managed to cross the Iraqi-Syrian border.'
