Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksei Meshkov met with Guatemalan parliamentary delegation, headed by Deputy President of the Guatemalan Congress Zuri Rios Montt. They discussed the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and extremism. The sides pointed to common views on the need to unite international efforts for joint struggle against new challenges, said the Russian Foreign Ministry's press and information department. The sides expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations and pointed to an important contribution of "parliamentary diplomacy" into the Russian-Guatemalan dialogue. They also stressed the necessity to expand mutually beneficial trade and economic and cultural cooperation between Russia and Guatemala, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
