Iran said on Monday it was halting work on enrichment in a move hailed by the &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/society/2002/07/07/31948.html ' target=_blank>United Nations' nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/world/2003/06/19/48418.html ' target=_blank>IAEA board is scheduled to discuss Iran's compliance on 25 November.

Diplomats who have seen the motion drawn up by France, Britain and Germany say it is unlikely to satisfy the US.

The US has led calls for the IAEA to refer Iran to the UN Security Council, which has the power to impose sanctions, reports BBC News.

Iran announced that it has frozen its &to=http:// english.pravda.ru/world/20/91/368/12890_radiation.html ' target=_blank>uranium-enrichment program. And the head of the atomic energy agency, Mohammed ElBaradei, whose inspectors are in Iran, told reporters in Vienna that it appears enrichment at Iranian nuclear facilities has stopped.
