Moldovan President confirms strategic cooperation with Russia and aspiration to integrate in EU

Moldova and Russia maintain strategic collaboration based on the treaty of cooperation, said Moldovan president Vladimir Voronin.

He takes part in the work of the, 10th, jubilee, summit of the heads of state from 17 Central, Eastern and South-eastern Europe, being conducted in Salzburg, Austria.

According to Voronin, cooperation between Moldova and Russia has strong historical roots and is developing dynamically.

Russia accounts for 46 percent of Moldovan imports and exports, the president said.

"The basic industries, which include, above all, power engineering, will be intensively developed," the minister stated and added that the market of traditional Moldovan goods is welcomed in Russia.

He also reported that Moldova is going to integrate in various European structures, including the European Union.
