Russo-Tunisian cooperation in development

Moscow is satisfied by Russo-Tunisian cooperation in international organizations.

The opinion was expressed during a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yury Fedotov and Khalif al Khafdi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia in Moscow, on the occasion of his accomplishing his mission in Russia, the Russian Federation Foreign Ministry Information and Press Department reported.

During the conversation the sides discussed a number of urgent international issues on the agenda and highly estimated the level of the two countries' cooperation in international organizations, first of all in the framework of the UN. Tunisia was a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2000-2001.

On Monday Khalif al Khafdi was also received by Alexander Saltanov, the Russian Federation Foreign Minister's other deputy. The latter expressed his satisfaction by the progressive character of Russo-Tunisian relations, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov's visit to Tunisia this April being the evidence of it. The officials also exchanged their opinions on the issues of enhancing bilateral cooperation, first of all in the sphere of trade and economy.

Finally Khalif al Khafdi will leave Moscow in August, the Tunisian embassy reported. The name of his successor has not been determined yet. Meanwhile First Envoy Adviser Hisham Abdalla will assume the functions of the head of the Tunisian diplomatic mission.
