Russia will not supply gas to US within next five years

US Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans does not believe that Russia will be able to supply liquefied natural gas to the US within the next five years. 'It is very unlikely that deliveries will begin within the next five years,' he said at the US-Russian energy summit in Saint Petersburg. He explained that 'expensive facilities still have to built.'

Analysts say that the US is very interested in buying Russian gas as the national economy is currently experiencing a shortage of gas. By 2005-2006 American gas analysts expect gas consumption in the US to rise by 20% and over the next twenty years they expect it to rise by 50%.
