On April 24 the Day the Victims of the Genocide of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire

The Armenians all over the world mark April 24 as the Day Commemorating the Victims of the Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.

On that day, 88 years ago, started the peak of the mass slaughter of Armenians in different parts of the Ottoman Empire. The total number of the victims of that genocide amounted to from 1,500,000 to 2,000,000 - the majority of the Armenians were killed, the rest deported. A great number of people died during the forcible mass migration.

In Yerevan, thousands of people will go to the Tsitsernakabert Hill where the Memorial to the Victims of the Genocide is situated and will lay flowers at the Eternal Flame.
