Russia together with all interested sides will follow the policy of consolidation of effective cooperation between the United Nations and other international and regional organisations, including the OSCE, in accordance with Chapter VIII of the UN Charter, the press and information department of the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday in connection with the passing of the UN General Assembly's resolution on cooperation between the UN and the OSCE. The Resolution points out the necessity of the development of further cooperation between the two organisations and more effective use of the OSCE resources and possibilities, first of all, in the sphere of the European security consolidation and the support of global efforts to counter new threats and challenges. It also stresses the importance to preserve the UN Security Council's principal responsibility for the support of international peace and security.
