Christmas Eve is not so nice for many Americans this year due to snowy and wintry weather.
At least 11 deaths were blamed on the storm, many people were left without electricity and the roads became very slippery – the situation remains very dangerous for the drivers, the AP said.
But the forecasts said that the weather began to ease Monday, when winter storm warnings for parts of Minnesota , Wisconsin and Michigan were set to lapse.
Nevertheless, situation remains very difficult in the Chicago and the Michigan regions.
Winds were recorded blowing as fast as 88 mph (142 kph) over Lake Michigan, with gusts of 50 to 68 mph (80 to 109 kph) across the Chicago region.
Because of the wind, airlines canceled more than 300 flights Sunday at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and at least 11,000 homes were left without power.
