At their meeting Russian deputy foreign minister Andrei Denisov, Hassan Khedr, Egyptian minister of supply and internal trade, and Fayza Aboul Naga, state minister of foreign affairs, considered the situation around Iraq and ways of Palestinian-Israeli settlement.
According to the information reported by the department of information and press of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the representatives of the Egyptian government arrived in Moscow on the invitation of Aleksei Gordeyev, deputy chairman of the Russian government and minister of agriculture.
During the consideration of the Iraqi situation Andrei Denisov drew particular attention to Russia's principle position in favor of the settlement of the Iraqi problem through political and diplomatic means on the basis of the implementation of corresponding UN Security Council's resolutions. The interlocutors stressed the necessity to continue constructive cooperation between Baghdad and international inspectors.
The parties expressed concern in connection with the continued Israeli-Palestinian confrontation. They spoke in favor of a speedy termination of violence and resumption of movement towards just settlement in the Middle East on the basis of peaceful and safe co-existence of two sovereign states, Israel and Palestine.
In the course of the meeting the parties also considered different aspects of trade and economic relations between Russia and Egypt and pointed out to the necessity to intensify joint efforts to further develop them.
