The Indonesian Air Force is preparing to receive Russian Su-30 fighters

The Indonesian Air Force is preparing for receiving on Tuesday two Russian Su-30 fighters.

As the Jakarta Post newspaper wrote on Monday with reference to spokesman of the Indonesian Air Force Sagum Tambun, the fighters will be brought by the Russian military transport plane An-124 Ruslan to the base of the Indonesian Air Force Iswahjudi in Madiun on Eastern Java.

As is expected, the welcoming ceremony will be attended by Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces General Endriartono Satarto and the Indonesian Air Force Commander Marshal of Aviation Chappi Hakim.

Altogether four Su-27 and Su-30 planes and two fighting helicopters Mi-35 are to be delivered to Indonesia on the contract signed last April during the visit to Russia by Megawati Sukarnoputri.

According to Sagum Tambun, the work for ensuring the use of the Russian planes and helicopters in Indonesia is close to the completion. At present, said Sagum Tambun, six Indonesian pilots and eighteen aircraft technicians are finishing their training courses in Russia and will be able to carry out demonstration flights of the new planes already on October 5, on the Indonesian Armed Forces Day.
