SADC executive secretary to visit Moscow

Executive Secretary of the South African Development Community, SADC, Prega Ramsamy arrives in Moscow on August 31st with a five-day working visit.

After the talks Ramsamy and Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov will sign a memorandum of mutual understanding between the Russian government and the SADC and on the bases of relations and cooperation, the Russian Foreign Ministry's information and press department reported on Monday.

The SADC is a politically and economically influential African regional organization, the department recalled.

"The visit aims at further strengthening the links between Russia and the SADC, at establishing a closer cooperation with the Community's member states in political, trade and economic and other spheres," the ministry announced.

During the visit, Ramsamy is also expected to hold meetings at other Russian ministries and departments and to arrange a business seminar involving representatives of the Russian business circles, the department added.
