Russia's Atomic Energy Minister to hold second round of talks with Iranian counterpart

Russia's Atomic Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev and Iranian Vice President, the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation Gholam-Reza Aghazadeh are to conduct the second round of talks on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the atomic energy minister, who is currently visiting Iran, paid a visit to the first unit of the Busher atomic power plant, which is being built by Russian specialists.

"After the trip to Busher, we shall go on discussing Russian-Iranian cooperation in the energy sphere," Aghazadeh told RIA Novosti earlier. "We shall also consider prospects for our cooperation." Having returned from Busher, Rumyantsev told journalists that Russia and the member states of the "Nuclear Club" were going to consider Iran's intention to build six more atomic reactors. "The Islamic Republic first announced its plans at a September session of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna," he said. "Back then, Aghazadeh urged the states that possess technologies allowing peaceful use of atomic energy to participate in Iran's plans." In Rumyantsev's opinion, Iran's intention to build six more atomic reactors is "a grandiose program."
