French PM acknowledges voter skepticism about EU

The results of the elections to the European Parliament will not affect the internal politics program of the French government, Prime Minister Manuel Valls said commenting on the interim results of the elections.

At the moment, the National Front has won 24.96 percent of the vote, while the ruling Socialists come third with the lowest index for them in the last 20 years - 13.98 per cent, ITAR -TASS reports. In connection with the results of the May 25 elections, the Prime Minister expressed his concerns about the inactivity of many voters, who usually vote for socialists." "In this election, the people showed that they have fear of the future," said Valls.

The politician denies the possibility of the dissolution of the National Assembly and early parliamentary elections, as National Front leader Marine Le Pen demands. In addition, he stated that he would not leave his post.

Valls acknowledged voter skepticism towards the EU, but said he was confident that the EU could be reoriented to support economic growth and employment. He also promised French voters to cut taxes that put a heavy burden on the masses and middle layers in the society."
