Kasyanov and Lipponen to Open New Check-Point on Lapland Border with Murmansk Region

Leaders of the Russian and Finnish governments Mikhail Kasyanov and Paavo Lipponen will open the new Salla check-point on the border between Lapland and the Murmansk Region. Until now this frontier point has had unofficial status.

According to the press office of the Finnish government, Kasyanov and Lipponen will also discuss the problems and perspectives of Russo-Finnish relations, the completion of the Northern Dimension EU programme, relations between the European Union and Russia and interregional cooperation in northern Europe. The Russian Prime Minister will return to Moscow from the Lapland capitol Rovaniem by plane after a fishing trip with Paavo Lipponen on Lake Akvenlampi.
