Serbia's Premier Hopes To See Serbia, Montenegro As A Single State

Serbia's Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic has referred to the proposal by the Montenegro authorities to form a union of two independent states of Serbia and Montenegro as hypocritical. In a Beta agency interview, he expressed hopes that the uniform state will be preserved, saying this problem should be settled by the middle of the next year. In the opinion of the Serbian prime minister, there are many more chances now to preserve a uniform state than a month or half a year ago and the world community's assistance could be decisive for the final solution. "We correlate our decisions with what the European community thinks not only about Montenegro. And if the European Union says that it is better to preserve an integrated Union republic of Yugoslavia, those who'd like it to be otherwise can hardly think of any sound argument," said the prime minister of Serbia.
