Russian parliamentarian: President of Georgia looking for external enemy in the person of Russia

The deputy head of the State Duma's committee for international affairs, Konstantin Kosachev, believes that Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze has resorted to searching for a foreign enemy to justify his impotence in resolving the internal problems.

"The political and economic situation in Georgia is very difficult, and the leadership of the republic is actually losing control over the processes taking place in the country. And in order to justify its impotence it has resorted to a tried and tested method of searching for an external enemy. For this purpose Shevardnadze has chosen, unfortunately, Russia," said Konstantin Kosachev in the interview which he gave to RIA Novosti on Tuesday, upon arriving in Vladikavkaz (the Northern Caucasus).

In the opinion of the deputy of the Lower House, it is the Georgian side which is mostly responsible for the situation when Russia and Georgia are living through a bad period in their relations. "Russia continues its attempts to settle relations with Georgia through concluding the so-called "greater treaty," but it always comes across counteraction on the part of the Georgian side," said Kosachev. "We want to be heard by the Georgian leadership, and when it happens, a sharp breakthrough will occur in the economic rapprochement between the two countries, because the interests of Georgia and Russia in the Caucasus do not contradict each other."

He announced his intention to create a news service called "Pravda," which means "truth" in Russian. Well, we are Pravda. The Pravda.Ru website has been working professionally in Russia since 1999
