An agreement on military-technological cooperation was signed in Managua by the Russian Federation and the Republic of Nicaragua. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry's department of information and press, this document "lays a legal foundation for development of contacts in this sphere between Russia and Nicaragua, and provides favourable conditions for intensifying bilateral partnership". This agreement, signed on the eve of general elections in Nicaragua, is "another evidence of the general positive development" of Russian-Nicaraguan relations based on principles of mutual benefit and continuity, said at the ministry.
