Chirac urges Syria to cooperate on Hariri probe

French President Jacques Chirac urged Syria on Thursday to cooperate with the investigation into the killing of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

He hinted that Syria could face international sanctions if it fails to do so.

"Syria must cooperate," Chirac said after a daylong meeting of European Union leaders. "Very evidently it has not cooperated. We have to make (sure) it is made to cooperate.", AP reported. V.A.
