Serbia's Premier Zoran Djindjic Does Not Share Montenegro's Independence Push

. In an interview published on Thursday in the newspaper Voice of Montenegrins, Djindjic emphasised that a renewed federation is far better for resolving all affairs than two different states. "Insisting on independence is a costly luxury which no one needs," he believes. As the Serbian premier noted, the people of Montenegro are aware that the European community does not support the policy of the Montenegrin authorities. Djindjic is convinced that there is no difference between the positions on this question by the European Union and by the Yugoslav state. Besides, Djindjic indicated, the authorities of Montenegro are facing serious problems - their opponent, instead of Milosevic, is now a democratic government recognised by the whole world.
